The World Rally Championship is held in various countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Finland, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, for a total of sixteen times a year. Unlike other racing competitions, the World Rally Championship requires that the competing cars be modified versions of the ordinary consumer cars and travel through such wild and exotic places as the Kenyan desert, the snow-covered conifer forests in Sweden, and the rugged Alpine villages of Monte Carlo. These rules make the World Rally Championship the perfect occasion to reveal the quality, reliability, durability, and technological advancement of products of any ambitious automaker.

A rally provides the most persuasive (and decisive) field of advertisement, as the participating cars bound to reveal their performances and durability before the eyes of the audience. Because the World Championship Rally accepts participation only of cars developed on the basis of consumer cars (unlike F1, which attracts the world's most expensive racing cars), it is effectively a major competing ground of not only the drivers, but also of major automakers around the world. HMC's participation in the world's most acclaimed motor sport game is, thus, very significant, as it allows HMC to show its technical prowess and expertise to an enthusiastic international audience.
